The Crochet Wave Stitch
Wavy, ripple patterns of blankets and Afghans look so good especially in summers. It gives feeling of calmness. Crochet wave stitch is used to create ripple or wavy patterns. This beautiful stitch is very simple and creates a neat and 3- dimensional look in the fabric.
The texture it provides to the fabric is awesome. Moreover, if you are planning to crochet blankets, afghan or scarves, this stitch will go perfect. You can even create cardigans, pillow covers or hand warmers using this beautiful stitch.
How to make Crochet Wave Stitch
To create this beautiful pattern you will need a crochet hook of 1.6mm and yarn in green and white color. You can also choose the colors according to your choice.
Make a chain of 26 chain stitches. Now, you will make 24 single crochet stitches in each chain stitch. Make 4 single crochet stitches in the next row. Then, make a chain of 7 chain stitches. Insert this chain in the 4th single crochet stitch of the row. Repeat making the chain of 7 stitches and inserting it into the next 4th single crochet of the row. Repeat this pattern till the end of the row. You will get 4 wave stitches.
Time to switch the color. Now, we will switch to white yarn. Make 4 single crochet stitches and a chain of 7 chain stitches. Insert this chain in the single crochet stitch row just beneath your 1st crochet wave stitch (which we made using green color yarn)
Your 1st crochet wave stitch in white yarn is ready. Make another chain of 7 chain stitches and insert it on the single crochet row just under the 2nd crochet wave stitch in green color yarn.
In this way, make 4 crochet wave stitches and close the row by making 4 single crochet. Just like you made in the beginning of row.
Switch color whenever you are starting a new row.
This stitch also provides room for creativity. You can also add a new different color for each row, as per your choice.
